Club Rules

 

 

Membership  

  1. An application for membership must be signed by a proposer and a seconder both of whom are Club members, one being a member of at least five years standing. The application shall be displayed for at least 28 days on the Club notice-board before being considered by the Committee.   
  2.   All Members of the Club (Members) shall read the Club Constitution and Club Rules and shall be deemed to accept all the rules and procedures contained therein.  
     

Officers 
The Officers at present are :- 

  •            Chair 
  •            Secretary 
  •            Treasurer 
  •            Captain 
  •            House Chair 
  •            Tournament Director 

  

Behaviour   

  1.   All Members are required to have respect for the Club premises and Club equipment and fittings and monies under Club ownership.   
  2.  Each Member of the Club shall adhere to the standards of fair play,   courtesy and personal deportment prescribed in the Rules of Bridge of the World Bridge Federation, the Bye Laws and regulations of the EBU and as determined within the Constitution and Rules of the Olicana Bridge Club. Should there be any conflict the Club’s Constitution and Rules shall prevail.  
  3. Relevant Schedules shall be available in the Club and referenced on the Club Website..  .   
  4. Under the provisions of Clause 5.9  of the Constitution a membership may be terminated by the Committee if an individual seriously or persistently contravenes such required behaviour.     
  5. The Committee may seek to resolve any disputes by instituting a mediation or conciliation process but no such action shall remove the right of  the individual to invoke the formal procedure if they so chose.     
  6. Members shall respect the session Tournament Director (TD), shall not dispute that TDs management; including play timings, Members’ table positioning, movement selection and hand play resolutions and shall respond positively to requests for faster play or lower volume of speech.   

  

Disputes   

  1.  All Members present in any session of Bridge play on Club premises, shall refer any instance of play irregularity as soon as possible to the TD for interpretation and decision. Members will not engage in dispute of play resolution with fellow Members at the table.   
  2.     The TD shall hear and rule upon such part of the appeal as deals solely with the Law or regulations. His ruling may be appealed to an Appeals Committee of three independent members, established by the Club TD. All other appeals shall be referred to the Committee.  

 

 Guests and Visitors   

  1. Members inviting a guest to the Club will before start of play, introduce the guest to the session TD, confirm the acceptance of the TD to the guest joining the session. The TD should enter the name and EBU number (if applicable) or the postcode of the guest in the Visitor Book.  
  2.  For visitors, on the first visit the TD should enter the name and EBU number (if applicable) or the postcode of the visitor in the Visitor Book   
  3.  All Guests and Visitors must accept and abide by the Constitution and Club Rules.   

  

Use of Club Money   

  1.  The Club may make minor gestures such as cards and flowers to individual members on special occasions.
